In the spirit of Easter week, I thought I’d share something that happened to me a few weeks ago. A “God Story”. I love a good God Story. You know the kind… the ones that leave your body in chills and wondering how that’s possible but also how could you not believe after hearing it. I’ll give y’all a little back story first.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you saw that about a month ago my family had to put one of our dogs down. She was my best friend of 14 years and it was a really, really difficult time in our house. We are MAJOR dog people. Maizy’s favorite thing to do was to take a ride in the car to the “Nug Store” also known as Chick-fil-A. (Lol).
On our last day and meal together, my mom and I went through the drive through to get our girl some nugs. When we got up to the window, realizing it was our last time doing this together, my mom and I burst out into tears. Chick-fil-A, being known for their kindness, instantly said how sorry they were. But what really stood out to us were the managers who could see what was happening, figured out what was probably going on and said “We can tell you’re having a bad day and it probably has to do with your baby right there. Here are some cookies on us… we’re so sorry”. We were completely touched and thought wow. That’s some Godly love right there. Something so little meant so much.
A few weeks later, a small cake/cupcake business reached out to me through Instagram wanting me to try some of their cupcakes. Me being me, I said um OF COURSE!! Free cupcakes? You don’t have to ask me twice. The person on the other side of the screen, (Christie) explained that the business is run out of her and her husbands home and that I could decide where we would meet. Also me being me, I was not about to go alone. If you know me, I have an irrational fear of being kidnapped. Although I’m technically an adult, I’m small and filled with a lot of fear ok?? Because we had never met, I asked my mom to tag along. We agreed to meet outside of the food court at our local mall. My mom and I had been running errands all day, were tired and tbh, #hangry.
After sitting for about 5 minutes, we heard, “Catherine??” Much to my surprise, the Air Force wife, mom of 5 who I’d talked to over Instagram was a cute 30-something fashionista who was fun sized just like me!! I already knew I liked her. We then sat and started to get to know each other. My mom asked her a ton of questions about her business and she explained that she and her husband (now retired from the air force) aspire to run this full time one day.
My mom then proceeded to ask what they currently do for a living. This is where it gets good!! Christie explained that her husband is a manager at Neiman Marcus and that she (wait for it) is the drive through manager at the Chick-fil-A that we go to. Our minds instantly went back to that day, and my mom knew she must tell our story because we were so grateful for the people that showed such kindness that day.
She started to tell the story of Maizy and her last day and got about half way through before all of our jaws dropped. It was her. Christie was the one who gave us the cookies that day. We were all speechless. She then proceeded to say, “What’s even crazier is that I never ever reach out to anyone. I saw your page and thought hmmm I should reach out to her!”
How crazy. How powerful. How could you not see the power of God here? After experiencing this, my mom and I left feeling so inspired and with full, faithful hearts. That night, I tried one of the cupcakes after dinner. Being completely honest…. it was the very best cupcake I have ever had in my life. And I’ve had a lot of cupcakes in my time. They are fresh, moist, and made with all natural ingredients from scratch. How could they not be this good when the story is so special?
This is such a testament of God and spreading His love. Out of all of the workers at Chick-fil-A. Out of the millions and millions of people on Instagram. He chose us. Christie helped us in a difficult time and there I was sampling her cupcakes to help promote her passion. God is so so good. He is listening. He is with you in your times of need and when you least expect it. He hears you. And He is so so sweet.
If you are looking for a recommendation for something sweet I highly recommend t7treats. No order is too big or too small. They are made with love and you might just leave with more than a cake!
