Nothing quite describes a trip to North Carolina like James Taylor does in this song. My grandparents moved up from Tampa to Brevard when I was little so we are lucky enough to make trips at least 1-2 times a year to visit them. Now that my sister has moved up as well, I’ve been 3 times in the past 10 months and each time I’m there, my mind is taken to a different place. Maybe it’s the scenery or maybe it’s Jesus reminding me just how beautiful His world is and to sit back and reflect, but there’s really nothing like it!!
Since I was on vacay mode and haven’t quite shared as much as I planned to this summa, I thought I’d take you through my trip! You ready? Ok here we gooooo.
Arriving. Ok. Totes makes the 10 hours in the car listening to my dad’s music on blast worth it.
Next morning. My parents took me to see the amazingly beautiful Biltmore Estate!!! Every single person in my fam had been but me so we made it a point to go and wow. Just wow. It was unbelievable. And also hot as 🔵s. Didn’t really think it through before that 1. It’s summer and 2. They didn’t have air conditioning in the early 1900’s so you can imagine the surprise of walking into a gigantic mansion of heat. Yeah. Not as fun. Still was magical tho.
Wore my @6thboroughboutique “1996” engraved necklace this day hollaaa it’s my new favorite piece.
The next day we visited my sister at Camp Rockmont where she is a summer nurse. Met a few people and was off to eat (obvi) and explore downtown Asheville for the day. It was, surprise, hot. Like really hot. I’m pretty sure I lost 10 pounds in sweat this day. But I got some yummy fries for lunch and jammed to Broadway/ musical movie music with my sis so I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
Tuesday was one of my favorites. Had another one of my #dateswithdad and went to Looking Glass Falls early in the morning. My dad being the professional photographer, enjoyed raising my anxiety levels risking his life for “the shot” as I sat and watched. We were out of cell service for 2 hours and sitting on a rock with the light shining through the trees with the sound of the water fall, I have never felt so close to Jesus. It was like we were hanging out all morning. And I loved it. After that we went to “Hog Wild” for some BBQ and Yum. Just yum. Pulled pork with cheese fries. Need I say more? I was in bed feeling nauseous for the next 8 hours after but honestly, no rAGrets.
Party like it’s 1776!!! I spent the 4th with lots of family. I haven’t seen some in years, some in what feels like it. I ate my leftover cheese fries for breakfast because how much more MURICA does it get than that? Had lunch on my grandparents back porch looking out at the mountains, walked around the mountain after to burn off the lunch, then headed downtown for all of the festivities they had going on. We all caught up and ate dinner with a sweet surprise early Birthday cake from my grandparents to end the night!
This was an outfit I was particularly excited for. American Eagle Flag top with Mom Jeans, my favorite Raybans, White sneakers, and my new Hazel and Dot Pom Pom clutch!!! I meannn are you not completely obsessed with it!?
Thursday was another 10 that turned into 12 hours in the car and all I can say is Fries. Music. Volume up. And the most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen. What more could a girl wish for?
What are some of y’alls summer plans?
